The first month after moving is overloaded with decisions. Trying to do everything at once creates a feeling of chaos. It is more useful to divide tasks by dependency: which opens access to the next steps.

Communication and documents first

A work phone number, access to email, and a clear folder with documents are needed for almost all services. Next come processes related to visa, Emirates ID, banking and insurance issues - depending on your situation.

Then sustainable housing

Temporary placements provide time to check out areas, but come at a cost. For long-term rentals, it is important to understand the payments, move-in date, Ejari, utility connections and condition of the apartment in advance.

Set up a daily route

Check your morning commute, parking options, toll lots, and backup route to work or school. During the first few weeks, it is helpful to record your actual time rather than relying on a map.

Collect household radius

Find a supermarket, pharmacy, clinic, dry cleaner, car service and sports facilities. The faster repetitive tasks are solved, the less attention the move takes.

Don't make all long-term decisions at once

The first impression of a city changes after summer, school traffic and a few weeks of work. Large purchases and long-term commitments should be made when you have real experience of your own life in Dubai.
